Heading into this program, I was unaware of how much fun and adventure would be in store for me. Visiting different places like the Akashi Kaiky\u014d Bridge and E-Defence was so amazing and informative. We were able to see how the concepts we had learned about in a classroom gets to be applied to the real world. Learning about the research and development behind such structures in Japan and then seeing how they are used to withstand disasters such as earthquakes is really an inspiring feat of engineering, one that I am glad to have been able to witness myself. Touring the labs at the university, it was very interesting to see the research and study areas available to the students, to see the similarities and differences of what the equivalent in RMIT is. This gave me a lot of insight for my career and which areas I would want to work in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, apart from the insights we received into where we can take our careers, we had the privilege to experience student life in Japan. We had the chance to participate in different activities such as Shodo (calligraphy) and classroom games with Kobe University students, leading to lots of fun. We made new friends, strengthened our multi-cultural awareness and gained new experiences that wouldn\u2019t have been possible without this program. I highly recommend to future students as given the chance; I wouldn\u2019t hesitate to retake this trip and experience everything again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
